What is The Intertwine
For some, The Intertwine is time spent with the family dog in a local park. For others it’s a quiet walk in the woods at Tryon Creek State Park. Every morning thousands of folks get on their bikes and use The Intertwine to get to work.
Others use The Intertwine for Sunday runs on the Wildwood Trail or to simply sit under the trees in their neighborhood. Paddlers on the slow-moving waters of the Tualatin River delight in The Intertwine, just as rafters do when they shoot the rapids on the Clackamas River.

If you live in Tigard, you might enjoy The Intertwine while watching your kids play soccer at Cook Park. A million people each year travel the Springwater Corridor in Gresham and Southeast Portland – it’s The Intertwine’s most-used and best-developed regional trail. If you’re in West Linn or Oregon City, Willamette River boat launches gives you easy access to recreation and water adventures on The Intertwine, too.
The Intertwine is
our connected network of parks, trails and natural areas in the Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington region.
The Intertwine provides unparalleled opportunities to preserve natural areas, open spaces, water and wildlife habitat. The Intertwine reflects our region’s passion for quality of life by encouraging recreation, connection to nature, and active transportation like walking, running and biking. As our urban areas grow denser, The Intertwine promotes the health and happiness we, as citizens of the Pacific Northwest, so dearly value.
